(Notes and observations from the journal of A. Umaru)

Peru, 1862
-First meeting of mysterious group of individuals (Cult? Cabal, perhaps?) reported by native populace.

- Strange crest/symbol (large avian strangling writhing worm in talons) painted on walls in various locations discovered.

-Due to the correlation between the strange symbol and the coming of this enigmatic group, the name "Gryphon Committee" is applied (loose translation--still investigating).

-Days after G.C. meeting, rampant wildfires destroy village. Death roll: Over two dozen.

Greece, 1872
-Second reported meeting of G.C.

-As previous, etchings of Avian/Worm crest discovered in multiple locations.

-As previous, days after G.C. meeting, a natural disaster devastates the area (Flood this time). Death toll: Over one hundred (notice steady increase in devastation).

Cairo, 1882
-Third reported meeting of G.C.

-As previous, etchings of Avian/Worm crest discovered in multiple locations.

-As previous, days after G.C. meeting, a natural disaster devastates the area (Earthquake). Death toll: Over one thousand.

-Timing indicates a meeting every 10 years to the day, followed by horrific (un?)natural disaster. Highly ritualistic.

Dirge Hill, English Midlands, 1892
-Falconer Foods (the irony abounds) finishes building massive factory at region's edge. Increase in strange activity reported widely throughout region.

-Company logo: Majestic Gryphon strangling a writhing worm in its indomitable talons.

-Coincidence? Doubtful. Timing and similarity of symbol/crest too suspicious to ignore. If the previous death toll was in the thousands, what could the next one aspire to?

-Brought findings to London and pleaded case. Called in every favor possible. Given go-ahead. Dirge Hill Lodge will be formed. I am tasked with leading hunt.

-Some do not believe, but I am certain. I have felt the presence of this evil before, as have the family I grieve.

-Town drunkard B. Grogworth thrashed by masked assailant. Large feather pinned to victim's jacket discovered upon waking. Somehow linked to G.C.? (UPDATE: Unrelated incident)

-Factory heavily guarded. Suspiciously so. What are they hiding?

-Founder of Falconer Foods (H. Wrigley) has most curious appearance. Claims rare skin condition. Avoids sunlight. (Vampiric activity?)

-Odd Glyphs (language unknown) found in Worker's quarters at Falconer Foods factory, along with bathtubs filled with soil. Most curious...

-Doctor E. Mensch has conducted an experiment on two common field mice and their reaction to a steady diet of Falcon's Finest. Results most disturbing.

-Subjects seem consumed with nothing but ingestion of the stuff, going so far as to ignore potential dangers that most prey animals would avoid.

-Subjects appear docile and lose fear of predators. Upon being freed from confinement, subjects willingly ran to nearest predator and were promptly mauled. (Sacrificed?)

-Several small, wriggling worms were found in what was left of subjects.

-When offered to the St. Bernard Phyllis, P. showed no interest or appetite for the stuff, while the mice could not resist it.

-Called in scions of Exeter Lodge for assistance in translation (Lord E. Wolfden [Frazer's Fighters]) and appraisal of possible Vampiric influence (T. Florescu [Slayers]).

-Upon interview with witnesses and an evening of scouting, T. Florescu effectively rules out any Vampiric influence occurring at Falconer Foods.

-Lord E. Wolfden and myself have (mostly) translated the strange Glyph retrieved by members of the Dirge Hill Lodge. While not %100 accurate, what follows is a confidently precise translation:

This, the four cycles of rebirth;
The first is the fire, searing and pure
The second, the flood, washing away the unclean
The third is the breaking of earth, the shattering of bonds
The fourth is the wind that carries blood encrusted wings

When the world has been baked, bathed, broken and toppled
She will rise and join us anew
We are the orphans of the hollowed city
The fresh flock
The obedient prey
We are Hers to devour with sharp beak
We are Hers to tear apart with gleeful, wicked talon
The Gryphon Queen hungers

Let us set our Lady's table.
Let the great empires play as feast.

-T. Florescu reports that there is underground activity at the Falconer Foods Factory. Must investigate further.

-With few leads, researched all mentions to "The Hollowed City." Found information about ancient city of Baltheem, who fell victim to a nefarious cult.

-Cause of confusion discovered, as original translation of glyph was slightly off. Discovered glyph references a Harpy Queen, not a Gryphon Queen.

-Vultrexa the Harpy Queen was banished from her attempt to enter this dimension by the Priesthood of Baltheem. Since then, her lunatic cult has sought to free her.

-The Harpy Queen lays chained to her native plane of existence via four sacred and mystical seals. Each of the previous rituals over the past 40 years have deactivated one of these seals. There is but one left.

-According to F.J. Weirwood, one Priestess of Baltheem managed to seal her essence into a crystal, awaiting the time to complete her divine duty. Mister Weirwood is not mentally stable, but other leads are slim.

-Acquired trapped essence of Neshrah, the last Priestess of Baltheem. Presenting her essence before the  four seals will recharge them, severing Vultrexa's influence in this world.

-All pieces are now in place. We move against Falconer Foods come morning. A copy of these findings will be transmitted to London for archival.
